Bagua Grande is located in the province of Uctubamba, department of Amazonas in northeastern Peru. The region has the ideal elevation and climate for producing high scoring specialty coffee. Farmers in this region traditionally used slash and burn techniques which would quickly embed nutrients into the soil, but also resulted in deforestation of forests.
