The Batak people, who live in this region, consist of six ethnic groups, and 'Tanobatak' means 'land of the people'. 'Mandheling' is a common name for beans grown in North Sumatra. It has a complex flavor profile with a sweet body and notes of berries, herbs, and spiciness.
