Takengon is a town in Indonesia located in the highlands of western Sumatra. In Indonesian, Kopi means coffee and Luwak means civet. This coffee comes exclusively from civets in the wild. The internal coffee bean is not digested but is chemically modified by the enzymes present in the civet's stomach, eliminating much of its bitterness. The bean is then thoroughly washed for processing.
