Beanie Is Now on Android: Discover Specialty Coffee by Taste

Beanie is now on Android, and it is more than a brew journal. We built it to help people discover coffee by taste instead of guesswork. Beanie catalogues more than 24,000 specialty coffees from 1,100+ roasters, so you can search by flavor, origin, and process, scan a bag to identify what is in your cup, and keep track of everything you brew. It is free and works on Android 8.0 and up.

Discover Coffee by Taste, Not Guesswork

Most people buy coffee by brand or by guessing from the bag. Beanie is built the other way around: start from the flavors you like and work outward to the coffees that match.

  • Search by flavor. Browse coffees by tasting note, from chocolate and caramel to blueberry, jasmine, and blackcurrant.
  • Filter by origin and process. Narrow down to Ethiopian naturals, washed Colombians, anaerobic lots, and more.
  • Follow the roasters. Every coffee links back to the roaster behind it, with their current lineup.

The catalogue is the same whether you open it in the app or on the web, so you can explore the full coffee database before you download anything.

The Waitlist Is Over

A lot of people signed up months ago for the Android version of Beanie. That waitlist is now closed because the app is real and ready to download.

If you joined the waitlist, thank you for waiting. The Android build has been in quiet development for a long time, and it ships with the same core features Beanie is known for on iOS.

  • Price: Free
  • Requires: Android 8.0 and up
  • Platform: Phones and tablets

What Beanie Does

Beanie (beanswithbeanie.com) is a coffee discovery tool and brew journal for people who want to find coffee they will love, remember it, and get better at brewing it. Here is what you can do on day one.

Scan the Bag

Point your phone camera at a coffee bag label. Beanie reads it and fills in the details for you:

  • Roaster
  • Origin
  • Processing method
  • Roast date and tasting notes, when the label lists them

Scanning makes logging a new bag fast, so you are more likely to actually keep up with it.

Log Every Brew

Record how you made each cup so you can repeat the good ones and learn from the rest. A brew entry can include:

  • The coffee and brew method
  • Recipe details like dose, grind, water temperature, and time
  • Your tasting notes and a rating

Your stats add up over time, so you slowly build a picture of what you actually like.

Find Roasters Near You

Open the map to see specialty roasters around you, along with their current lineup. It is built for finding good coffee at home or while you travel.

What Changed Coming to Android

Nothing important. The point of the Android launch is parity, not a stripped-down version. The bag scanner, brew journal, and roaster map all work the same way they do on iOS.

Feature iOS Android
Bag label scanning Yes Yes
Brew journal and ratings Yes Yes
Saved recipes Yes Yes
Roaster map Yes Yes

If you switch phones or use both, the experience should feel familiar either way.

How to Get Started

  1. Explore the database. Browse 24,000+ specialty coffees by flavor, origin, and process to see what is out there.
  2. Download the app. Get Beanie from Google Play on any phone running Android 8.0 or newer.
  3. Scan your first bag. Point your camera at a coffee label and let Beanie fill in the details.
  4. Log your first brew. Add your recipe, write what you tasted, and give it a rating.
  5. Open the map. See which specialty roasters are near you and what they are pouring.

You can keep entries short or go deep with every variable. Either way your coffee history stays organized and searchable.

A Note on Feedback

The Android version is new, so if you try it and something feels off, the team genuinely wants to hear about it. The fastest way to help is to report what you saw and what you expected to happen.

You can send feedback two ways:

Early reports from real users are what make the app better, so do not hold back.
